When Energy Aligns, Healing Begins
Reiki Healing with Carolyn Allen
Supporting your healing journey by releasing emotional blockages that impact your mind, body, spirit, and energy—so you can feel lighter, more grounded, and free to be your best self.
I offer in-person Reiki healing sessions in Maleny (The Joy Collective) every Sunday (by appointment only), and Sunshine Coast, and Brisbane (home visits). I also offer distance healing sessions worldwide. True healing happens on multiple levels—physical, emotional, and energetic—which is why I have embraced integrating Reiki into my practice. Whether you're already working with me for naturopathic care or feel drawn to energy healing on its own, these sessions provide a deeply restorative experience. Choose from in-person or distance sessions—both offer powerful ways to restore balance, clear stagnant energy, and reconnect with your natural vitality.
What is Reiki
Reiki is a gentle Japanese healing practice that promotes deep relaxation and supports your body's natural ability to heal. Through light touch, a Reiki practitioner helps channel life force energy - the vital energy that flows through all living things. When this energy flows freely, we feel balanced, healthy, and vibrant. But when it becomes blocked or depleted, we might experience stress, illness, or fatigue. Reiki helps restore this natural flow, bringing you back to a state of balance and wellbeing.
What Happens in a Reiki Session?
As you rest fully clothed on the treatment table, I’ll gently place my hands on or above key energy points, starting at your head and moving intuitively through areas that need support. These placements help release tension, restore energy flow, and bring balance to your system.
You may feel warmth, tingling, or gentle waves of sensation—signs of energy shifting and rebalancing. Some areas might feel cooler, indicating where revitalisation is needed. Many experience deep relaxation, emotional release, or a profound sense of calm.
Reiki flows exactly where it’s needed—whether to quiet your mind, ease physical discomfort, or dissolve emotional blockages. All you need to do is relax and receive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most common questions I’m asked about Reiki. With so many healing modalities and wellness trends out there, Reiki stands out to me as pure, gentle, and deeply effective. It’s a practice that anyone can benefit from, and its simplicity is part of its power.
Along with the FAQs below, I also recommend reading the following articles for a deeper understanding of Reiki and its benefits.
Your Essential Guide to Reiki - what to do before, during and after a session
-
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on energy healing practice that promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and balance. It originated in Japan and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922. Reiki works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner’s hands to help restore harmony to the mind, body, and spirit. It is safe, non-invasive, and suitable for everyone.
-
Everyone benefits from reiki healing. Even your animals.
-
Reiki is based on the principle that energy flows through all living beings. When this energy is blocked or imbalanced, it can contribute to stress, fatigue, and illness. A Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for healing energy, directing it where it’s needed to support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
-
A Reiki session is a gentle, non-invasive experience. You lie down fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table while the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above your body. The energy flows, and many people experience deep relaxation, warmth, tingling, or emotional release. Sessions typically last 45 to 90 minutes. You can read this article to learn more

Enhancing emotional well-being
Supporting pain relief and physical healing
Promoting better sleep and relaxation
Helping with emotional processing and trauma release
Balancing energy and improving mental clarity
-
It depends on the practitioner and your preference. Some practitioners place their hands lightly on the body, while others hover just above without direct touch. Both methods are equally effective. I am happy to do either and will always ask what you would prefer.
-
Everyone experiences Reiki differently, but common sensations include:
Gentle warmth or tingling
Deep relaxation, like a meditative state
A sense of floating or lightness
Emotional release, such as tears or laughter
Some people even fall asleep, which is perfectly normal!
-
Yes! Reiki is not limited by time or space, so it can be sent to someone in a different location through distance healing techniques. Many people report feeling the same calming and healing effects as they would in an in-person session. For more information I recommend reading this article
-
Reiki is all about comfort and relaxation, so it's best to wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to fully relax. Many people choose soft, breathable fabrics like cotton or yoga-style clothing.
Avoid anything too tight, restrictive, or heavy, as well as bulky jewelry, belts, or accessories that may distract you during the session. Since you’ll remain fully clothed throughout, comfort is key to enhancing your experience.
-
There’s no strict preparation needed, but a few simple steps can help you get the most out of your Reiki session:
Hydrate well before your session, as energy work can sometimes leave you feeling thirsty.
Avoid heavy meals or caffeine right before, so your body can fully relax.
Arrive with an open mind and no expectations—each Reiki experience is unique.
Wear comfortable clothing and remove anything that may distract you (e.g., tight jewelry, heavy layers).
Most importantly, just come as you are. Reiki meets you exactly where you are in your journey, supporting your well-being in the way you need it most. For more information check out this guide.
-
This depends on your goals and individual needs:
Some people feel benefits after just one session.
A series of sessions (weekly or biweekly) is recommended for long-term healing.
Ongoing Reiki can be a great tool for maintenance and energy balancing.
-
No. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or belief system. It is a spiritual practice that works with energy, but it does not require any specific faith or belief to be effective.
-
No, Reiki is a complementary therapy, meaning it works alongside medical and psychological treatments, but it does not replace them. Many people use Reiki to enhance their well-being while continuing conventional healthcare treatments.
-
While Reiki is considered an alternative therapy, studies have shown it can:
Reduce stress and anxiety levels
Help with pain management
Improve sleep and relaxation
Lower heart rate and blood pressure
Many hospitals and healthcare centers now offer Reiki as a supportive therapy for patients.
-
Reiki is very gentle, but some people may experience:
Emotional releases (crying, mood shifts) as stored energy is processed.
A temporary sense of fatigue or lightheadedness as the body adjusts.
Heightened awareness of emotions or past experiences.
These are all part of the body’s natural healing process and usually pass quickly.
-
es, Reiki is often used as a supportive therapy for pain management and chronic conditions, including:
Migraines and headaches
Arthritis and joint pain
Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
Post-surgical recovery
While Reiki does not cure illnesses, it helps by relaxing the nervous system, reducing inflammation, and promoting natural healing processes.
-
Absolutely! Reiki is particularly effective in:
Easing anxiety, stress, and depression
Releasing emotional blockages and trauma
Supporting grief and life transitions
Bringing emotional balance and clarity
Many people feel lighter, more at peace, and emotionally grounded after a session.
-
Reiki energy is believed to come from the universal life force that flows through all living things. Practitioners do not use their own energy; they act as a channel for this energy, allowing it to flow where it is most needed
-
