Georgie's Journey to Health with Metabolic Balance®: A Testimonial

I don't know about you but I'm always interested to hear from other people on their experiences when it comes to health and healing. I asked one of my lovely clients who completed Metabolic Balance® and continued with naturopathic care if she could provide some insight into her experience with the program. And because she is fabulous and very generous with her time, here it is. Here is Georgies story. 

 Why did you decide to do Metabolic Balance®?

I liked the idea of Metabolic Balance because of the science behind it and having someone like Carolyn guide you through the journey was a dream come true. I liked the approach of having a qualified naturopath look at your health and wellbeing holistically while following the program. When you choose to do something like Metabolic Balance it’s often a case of feeling like you have tried everything and need that extra professional support which Carolyn definitely provides.

I decided to do Metabolic Balance in an attempt to sort out the issues I was experiencing with my digestion, allergies and hormones. These issues had made losing weight really hard for me and I was starting to feel out of control. I was eating all the “right things” but I still wasn’t feeling great. I was feeling really puffy around my face and stomach and nothing I did was making a difference. 

When did you first start seeing results?

After about two weeks of Metabolic Balance, I started to see results. I lost the puffiness and felt less inflamed. It helped me to understand how good I could feel again and to take away the feeling of overwhelm when it came to food. Metabolic Balance gives you a list of foods that are right for your body and suggested meal plans which makes it very clear and easy to follow. Everything is done for you. So simple. You can also take advantage of the private Facebook group for recipe inspiration too. 

Tell me about the food? 

Firstly, after the first two weeks there is no way you will feel hungry on Metabolic Balance. Eating this way feels really nourishing, like you’re doing something good for yourself. I found creating recipes using the foods on my list to be really easy. Metabolic Balance brings you back to basics and I loved how creative I was able to get in the kitchen. 

After the first month on the plan you re-introduce off-plan meals and it was so interesting how my body and mind reacted. I was always an emotional eater and I’ve noticed I don't see food that way anymore. Metabolic Balance has taught me to listen to what I actually feel like eating and not just eat for the sake of it. It was so nice to be able to identify this and work through some of these habits. I always felt like I ate really well but Metabolic Balance helped me to identify where I was using food as a crutch and how often I would eat for comfort or out of habit. 

I do think that there's a different way to look at Metabolic Balance and not treat it like a diet or restrictive eating. You get a long list of delicious wholefoods that you can prepare in a variety of different ways. Most people who come to Metabolic Balance are likely to have tried a few things or fad diets in the past and know that they don't work long term. Metabolic Balance gave me the tools to feel in control and enjoy food again. 

Tips or advice for anyone looking to do Metabolic Balance? 

Yes, self care. Alongside Metabolic Balance I was able to prioritise myself and make sure I was doing nice, slow things so that my body was able to reset and rest appropriately. This made a really big difference. 

How much weight I lost is irrelevant to me now because of how I feel. I feel amazing and what I've learned from the different phases is that you can always come back when you're not feeling yourself or need a reset. The phases are not linear so once you have moved through the program with Carolyn’s help, it’s easy to identify what your body needs and take charge. That's the beauty of having a personalised nutrition plan. It’s yours for life and you rediscover what it means to feel good. I do believe there's ways of using the food to nourish yourself and Metabolic Balance is a simple way to do this. 

How would you describe the support you received?

The biggest thing for me was Carolyn's support. She is very hands on and provides as much support as you need. I liked the idea of having someone there to talk to because I do have certain things I can't eat and things that haven't worked for me in the past. Carolyn helped guide me through it all. She is almost like a reassuring friend, cheering you on and making you feel like you’re in control and can make long lasting changes to your health.

I honestly think Carolyn is an incredible practitioner. Being able to bring together naturopathy with Metabolic Balance is such a great combination. She wants everybody to succeed and feel their best. It's not about weight loss for her, something I loved because for too long my focus had been about the weight on the scales. It’s about how you feel overall. Your energy, how you feel in your body and in your mind so when you do have those curveball moments in life, you’re able to approach them in a better and more balanced way.

Carolyn is amazing. I am so blessed to have found her and I can't believe that she was able to help me solve this health puzzle.
